Biomedical Center of the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Pilsen
The Biomedical Center is a part of the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Pilsen, conducting cutting-edge research in such areas as the support, regeneration, and replacement of vital organs; infectious diseases (sepsis, antibiotic resistance of bacteria, prophylaxis of viral infection in transplantology); oncological research related to experimental surgery; biocompatibility; stem cell research; neurophysiology; and reproductive medicine. The Center has several international research teams.
New Technologies for Information Society (NTIS)
The NTIS Research Center is a research and development department at the Faculty of Applied Sciences of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. It focuses on technical fields such as cybernetics, computer science, and mechanics, which are crucial for the development of information, communication, and mechatronic technologies. The center also focuses on the development of natural sciences, primarily physics, mathematics, and geomatics. Natural sciences research focuses especially on the development of new thin-film materials and plasma sources, the development of new mathematical structures and the collection and processing of spatially defined data.
Research and Innovation Center for Electrical Engineering (RICE)
RICE is a research center at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. It focuses on smart transport, especially on new concepts of propulsion and technologies for next-generation transport systems; materials research, with a focus on organic electronics and intelligent sensors; technologies for increasing the efficiency of power generation; and the development of advanced technologies for nuclear power. The center also specializes in mathematical modelling and computation, as well as research and development of new diagnostic methods. The main target applications of the research are in the fields of transport, energy, and industry, printed electronics, and smart textiles.
Regional Technology Institute (RTI)
The Regional Technological Institute (RTI) is a research and development center at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. Equipped with modern infrastructure and instrumentation for design, modelling, calculations, simulations, measurements, analyses and prototype production, the center conducts both basic and applied and experimental research in the field of vehicle construction, production machines, machining and forming technologies, as well as modern production methods of so-called “smart production” and “Industry 4.0.”
New Technologies Research Center (NTC)
Since 2000, the NTC Research Center of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen has focused on research and solutions for green technologies and advanced materials in the fields of green energy sources, smart vehicles, and quality of human life and health. Research is centered around such topics as biomechanical models of the human body, chemical processes, and biomaterials, modelling and simulation of technological systems, and infrared technologies. A part of the NTC is the Czech Israeli Research and Development Center for Renewable Energy.
Welcome Center
Welcome Center offers multi-level support for foreign experts, and their families, considering incentives to work at the University of West Bohemia. The WBU Welcome Centre assists in formal agenda as well as helping newcomers get involved in cultural and social life in the region, which is a necessary part for successful and long-term integration in the new environment.
International Office CU
International Office of Charles University offers assistance to foreign students and academic experts providing help with application, entrance examination, admission process as well as with assessment of high school documents for the purpose of admission to the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen after passing the entrance examination successfully.
Academic Career
The aim of the project is primarily to increase the number of researchers and academic staff from abroad and to implement their current experience from international scientific and research teams in support of the development of research and development in the Pilsen Region. Experts coming here also receive assistance in administration and processing of legal documents necessary for their stay.
