Tradition of university studies goes back to 1946 when Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen of Charles University was opened. And shortly after the Velvet Revolution another university was established in the capital of the Pilsen Region - the West Bohemian University.

UWB is a multidisciplinary university offering a wide range of disciplines, from engineering to the humanities, economics, medicine, and the arts. The diversity and proximity of the various UWB faculties supports creative activities and creates an ideal breeding ground for the establishment of interdisciplinary study programs and cooperation on projects across faculties, often on an international level.

The faculties cultivate close relationships with industrial partners, companies, and employers of various specializations, which allows students to connect their theoretical studies with practice and research. The superior quality of education in fields such as electrical engineering, computer science, cybernetics and mechanical engineering or materials engineering is not surprising.

 

 

WBU International Office

The International Office arranges contacts at the university level within the framework of foreign cooperation.It informs about the possibilities of scholarship stays abroad, provides advice to faculties, departments, and students about the international education projects and ensures their coordination (ERASMUS+ program).The International Office also offers support to international students and university employees and organizes events for foreign visits and delegations.

Welcome Center offers multi-level support for foreign experts,and their families, considering incentives to work at the University of West Bohemia. The WBU Welcome Centre assists in formal agenda as well as helping newcomers get involved in cultural and social life in the region, which is a necessary part for successful and long-term integration in the new environment.

 

Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen, Charles University

The Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen is part of Charles University ranking among the oldest Central European universities. The faculty offers two study programs ? general medicine and dentistry. As both have been taught in English since 1992, more than 10,000 doctors working all over the world completed their education in Pilsen.

Faculty members participate in medical and preventive care in the University Hospital in Pilsen and other medical institutions. The output of scientific research carried by the faculty is impressive both in its scope and impact. Biomedical Center of the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen focuses on research and development in the field of replacement and regeneration of vital organs.
